In the latest Ontario Real Estate Association newsletter, Merve Burgard, Q.C. discusses a case where, after they bought their home, the buyers discovered that undisclosed changes had been made to the home without a building permit.
The buyers only found out about the situation when they attempted to do some renovations and learned that a major structural change completed prior to their purchase made the second floor of the home "unsafe." How the case was resolved in the courts, and Q.C. Burgard's commentary make for an interesting read.
